Edgewood, MD asked in Criminal Law for New Jersey

Q: My son was granted a plea bargain of 1 year as accepted by the Prosecutor of Burlington County and the Public Defender

The sitting judge accepted the plea and ruled accordingly. Now the parole board refuses to release him. He has no demerits, was on a work crew and received accolades. His one year plea bargain was completed but he is still in prison after 22 months. Wrote to the state AG and he CAN'T get involved. Do I have any recourse as the father? I am his sole support.

A: More info is needed, but it appears that the crime pled to for the 1 year sentence was in addition to and possibly consecutive to the sentence being served before this latest conviction. You might want to schedule a consultation with an experienced criminal defense attorney.
