Q: I carry a compensation policy on myself for my drywall business and got hurt been collecting for 2 months.
I have 4 herniated discs 1 bulging and 50% stenosis in1 disc. The doctor said I should think about a new career but I've been doing this 30 years. I don't know what the next steps should be, any advice would be greatly appreciated
A: You may need to look for Social Security Disability, but that won't pay enough. Don't know if you can run the company without doing the work but I have clients that have been able to be a manager. Problem is hard to be a manager that doesn't do anything physical. Your state may have an office of vocational rehabilitation that helps folks who have to change work because of injuries/ impairments. You may be entitled to a compensation settlement as well. You want to contact a member of the NYState Trial Lawyers Assn that handles workers comp==they give free consultations.
