Q: 6 yr old daughter & mom in NJ accused of theft.Laws regarding this, punishment.. difference between adult vs. child
In NJ $1800.00 ring. Can mom get in trouble too? Should mom take the blame if this will haunt the child for rest of her life? Mom called store as soon as she realized it left store and returned the ring. Does Detective on the phone need to tell me the phone call is recorded? child has behavioral issues, also the clerk was giving/letting child try on and hold jewelry
A: You saying your accused so obviously you know already that yes you can get in trouble for what your 6 year old daughter did which the state will try to prove was either because of your lack of supervision (not as bad) or because you instructed her and trained her to do such. In NJ anyone to a conversation does not have to tell you, that your being recorded. Lastly the act of theft/shoplifting occurs when you leave the store without paying, not when you notice it. Get yourself a good lawyer and stop talking about your case online. Anything you say here over the internet can also be used against you in court. The only place your guaranteed confidentiality is in your lawyers office.
