That is a good question. How do you build a rocket to go to the moon without an engineer. How do you perform surgery on yourself without a doctor? How do you cure your dog when you are not a veterinarian? All great questions, but unfortunately, it is not possible to do any of them without the necessary experienced, knowledgable personnel - at least until Elon Musk replaces everyone with automation.
Lawyers spend three years learning the basics of our profession and then another 5 - 10 perfecting what they do, all the while keeping up to date with changing laws, appellate decisions and the general, prevailing community attitudes and prejudices. I guess, you could go to law school, practice law for 5 - 10 years and then you might know enough to not have to hire a lawyer but of course, representing yourself, even for lawyers is perilous. That's why even lawyers hire lawyers when they have a legal problem.
Sorry to not have a better answer for you but the only people that try and practice law when they are not lawyers, lose.
