Callahan, FL asked in DUI / DWI and Traffic Tickets for Georgia

Q: If I live in Florida but was charged for DUI in GA two years ago do I obtain FL or GA lawyer?

Charged with DUI, driving with license suspended, controlled substance. I was pulled over pled the fifth and did not have any controlled substance on me at the time. Was charged in 2014, bailed out. Contacted court several times and they could never pull anything up in their system. Received no calls or mail then last month I received letter in the mail stating I had to pay charges or they would issue out bench warrant. Obtained job with extensive background check done (nothing came up because I received job). My job requires me to drive a company vehicle and never brought up DUI charge or have had any problems with my license?

A: You always want to retain a lawyer from the Jurisdiction where the case is pending -- The Georgia lawyer fluent in DUI and criminal practice, should be able to look it up your case immediately and advise you how to proceed.
