If your father had no Will when he died, the three of you will probably be co-owners in equal shares of the land and anything else he solely owned. One of you will probably have to open a probate case in order to transfer title to the three of you. You may be able to recover the amount you paid in taxes, if there is anything else in your father's estate from which to be paid. Then the three of you will have to figure out who buys out the others. Or you sell the property and divide the proceeds. To get a definitive answer you'll need to consult an attorney in the state where your father died or where the land is. Many offer free initial consultations. Justia.com can help you find one near you. Good luck.
