Littleton, CO asked in Family Law and Child Support for Colorado

Q: Part of my child support order includes 50% of the children's 'extras' on top of monthly support amount how do I add it?

The court said he was responsible for 50% of 'extras' and this was explained to me as any added medical, dental, vision and extracurricular activity costs on top of the monthly support. How do I add these costs to the amount he owes?

A: You can send the amounts to him. If he does not pay, you can file a motion to add those costs. You will have to verify the amounts. You should retain an attorney to assist with this.

A: If you are talking about costs of health insurance, that should be added into the child support calculation. If you are talking about out of pocket medical, dental, and vision costs, you should email him any bills and proof of payment and request reimbursement. The same would apply to child activities. If he does not reimburse you then you would need to make it a court issue by filing something with the court to enforce the orders. You should also consult with an attorney to go over the specific language in your orders, as there could be provisions regarding how long he has to pay, procedures for payment, etc. If you don't have that type of specific language you should see about getting your orders changed.
