Lake Zurich, IL asked in Traffic Tickets for Illinois

Q: son is under 21 & got 2 speeding tix. Paid them w/o telling us so it's on his record. Any way to get this off record?

He paid the tickets w/o going to court, just pleaded guilty and mailed them in. His license was suspended for 3 months and he had to take a class. Can this be removed from his record any way so that it will not follow him and insurance rates? We are in Illinois.

A: Sometimes it works.

File motion to withdraw guilty plea.

If the judge allows it, then negotiate with State's Attorney.

Probably will get court supervision but have to pay a heavy fine.

A: It is advisable to hire an attorney to assist you with this matter. One or both of the tickets need to be motioned up to vacate the judgment entered against your son. Assuming at least one of the tickets gets vacated and he is given Court Supervision, the suspension will be lifted.

A: Yes, it is very possible to clear one or both of the convictions and remove the suspension. Contact an attorney in the county where the tickets were issued to discuss a motion to vacate. Best of luck.
