Q: If my ex and son live in ny and i live in florida could my case be transferred and would i still have to follow ny laws.

I pay insurance and child support it costs me around 800 a month and i am forced to live with family because i can not afford to live on my own.

A: You have to follow the NYS law since the case was initiated in New York State. Even if you go to NJ or travel to another state after Florida, you will be bounded by the laws of the state where the children reside and the case was initiated and decided in. It is difficult to get the case to be transferred but it is not impossible. You can modify the child support if you can't afford the $800/month due to loss of income or etc. A competent family law attorney would be able to assist you.
