Asked in Traffic Tickets for Missouri

Q: Why does missouri RSMO 304.016-304.016-006N19755405.0 require me to appear in court rather than just paying the fine?

But for this ticket In general why would they want me to appear? It for driving in the left lane within 100 ft of a intersection or a railway grade. Basically I went to pass a slow driver towing a trailer his trailer lights were not working and as I went to pass he decided to make a left turn we collided I ran off the roadway and overturned.. neither me or the other party had any injuries so I’m curious why they wanna see me?

A: Certain types of more serious traffic tickets (for excessive speed, no insurance, leaving the scene of an accident, etc.) require a court appearance, rather than allowing the defendant to mail in the payment for the fine. You can hire an attorney to represent you in court so you won't have to appear.
