Q: I am 17 and I received a ticket for speeding, going 84 on a 60. First time offense, how should I deal with it?
I received the citation in October 7, 2017, but have yet to pay it. I have gotten a late notice, late fees and will be suspended on 2/05/18 according the the letter that was sent, if not payed. Is there any solution for this in which it will not go on my record?
A: Most people want to keep speeding tickets off of their drivers license record. If a person simply pays the ticket, that is deemed an admission and it will go on their drivers license record. The only way to prevent that, is to schedule a court appearance and either get the prosecutor to agree to a resolution that will stay off of the drivers license record, or win a court (judge only) trial. It's an easy choice since the worst that can happen is it goes on the drivers license record. With no priors, many are successful.
