Franklin, TN asked in Family Law and Child Custody for Tennessee

Q: Does a 15 year old have a say in visitation to the non-cust parent?

The 15 yo and the custodial parent live in Tennessee. The custody agreement is in Georgia. The current situation is that the child goes to Georgia every other weekend (meeting in Chattanooga for the transfer). Child would like to reduce it to once a month because of work load in school (taking AP classes and a very heavy workload). The child has even suggested to the NC for him to travel to Tennessee and spend the weekend here with her

A: I believe I answered this question on another forum. If the NC parent will agree, then you should be able to change. Otherwise, a court will have to change the schedule. You may be able to change the case to a TN court if you have lived here for 6 months. You should consult an attorney to discuss all of your options.
