Q: How long can children's father play "unemployed" card to keep from paying full child support?

We have 2 children ages 12 and 13. He is now addicted to prescription pain meds and refuses to work unless he gets paid "under the table" for his pill money. He does get small jobs here and there, but when they catch on to what he's doing, he gets fired. I am a medically retired nurse that had spinal surgeon a few years back for a genetic disease. My retirement check is not enough to keep is going through the month. When I divorced him in 2007,my child support order was for $431. That along with my retirement check was barely enough to keep us going. Now he's not paying that and says he got fired. He will use this excuse as long as he can get away with it and the state won't do anything about it. I am now forced to have to have go back to school to get a job with my genetic spinal disease that is going to make it progress faster because he won't pay his court ordered child support. How long can he do this to me? He hasn't seen the kids since Christmas 2016. Can't afford an Atty. Thx.
