Bristol, TN asked in Divorce for Tennessee

Q: Is there anything I can do if I got basically screwed over in our divorce?

I did sign papers,I did not have attorney. His did everything. He didn't put the business in or half our assets. We raise two grandchildren, one is special needs, and I haven't been able to work outside of our home or business since 2008. We still lived together slept in same bed and still do. I signed papers under total emotional distress and he knew I didn't want it. He never even told me when court was. I never even knew I was divorced until a couple weeks ago when he sprung it on me ,been divorced since October and I just found out. He got everything left me with nothing.. absolutely nothing.I don't know what to do.

A: Generally, once you have signed the papers, you are stuck, but the facts you presented here raise questions. You should take the paperwork and go to see a divorce attorney. If he did not include all of the assets in the marital dissolution agreement, there may be steps you can take. The fact that you "reconciled" and didn't know about the hearing is another reason to potentially challenge the divorce.
