My husbands father passed away a couple of weeks ago in a freak accident at work. His wife ( step-mother) refuses to let my husband have anything at all. He was adopted. What are his rights as an adopted child? His Dad did not have any other children. He was not s rich man and his home was not paid for. There is no will. And the step mother has retained an attorney but we are not sure why. The things my husband has ask for have no monetary value, they are only sentimental. But since she is making his grieving process
A: Your husband should consult an attorney. If he died without a will, then he is likely entitled to inherit along with any other siblings.
