Chattanooga, TN asked in Family Law for Georgia

Q: Is there a law like FERPA that applies to businesses which will not release information to a parent with joint custody?

I have joint custody. I reimbursed my ex wife $700 for my child's activity provided by a business. I asked my ex-wife many times when she would be attending this activity so I could attend but my ex refused. My daughter has indicated she did not attend. I stopped by the business. They told me my child was not in their system but the person that could give me more information was not available but would call. This individual never called me back. I called back and was told that they could not provide me with any information. The company rep stated that because she had never seen me bring my child to the sessions, she would not provide me with any info. I offered to stop by with a copy of the custody order but she refused although she told me there is a credit which is odd because the contract is for a fixed term and does not indicate a credit would be due if services are not used. Besides seeking contempt against my ex, something does not seem right with the business. Ideas?

A: Concern yourself with the contempt. The business will answer a subpoena inside of the contempt action.
