Asked in Child Support, Family Law and Federal Crimes for Louisiana

Q: I recently found out the mother of my child has been using her personal address to receive my legal documents

I am currently in the process of setting up a child support case and recently found out that the mother of my child has used her personal address to receive my court documents regarding modifications of support. For the past 4 years she has fraudulently listed her personal address as mine to have court documents mailed to her personally. I had never been notified of any changes and when I went to clerk of court they gave me a form I had never seen. With my name signed and her personal address listed as my mailing address. I have called the child support offices and they have said my address has been changed multiple times to places I have never heard of. She has admitted to using my social security number to change the address. I only have one document from the clerk of court where it states my address was in Louisiana at her residence when truthfully I have lived in a different state for the past 4 years. But the child support offices say my address has been changed numerous times.

A: 1. You need to contact the District Attorney's Office for her parish and report this criminal fraud.

2. You need to hire a family law attorney to: a) file a Motion to Enroll which prevents her from sending notices to you personally, b) file a Petition to Annul any adverse judgments entered while she was changing your address around.

3. You need to do a change of address with the post office online or in a postal facility in person.

4. Put together leases, utility bills, etc. proving where you have lived for the last 4 years.
