Q: 5 mo old Son in priv kinship care w patrnl gp's, I'm still getting on feet, father in rehab - can cps impose 1yr deadlin
Gp's live in Akron, I was in Broomfield, case is in Arapahoe cty bc I was abandoned by the father & shopping cart homeless and down south when I went into labor. I've seen my son 1 time since he was born (Oct19). Suspended parenting time bc 2 missed appts, one was bc of the father. He & i were both struggling but tried to reconcile & maintain compliance w cps while constantly struggling to keep from being evicted every month. January 23rd is when he made a final decision and kicked me out in the snow at midnight from where we were staying. So I was suddenly homeless at midnight with all my possessions being told to get off the property or he'll call the cops or the landlord. This has been a traumatic event that i am JUST NOW recovering from, but i still have no job so it's hard to comply w cps & he went to greeley rehab. Our case worker stated she is exploring other permanent placement bc of my sons young age. I WANT MY SON, but need extra time beyond 1yr deadln. Do I needLawyer
A: You should already have a lawyer appointed to your case, which you should be entitled to given your financial circumstances. If not, you need to ask the court or hire your own, private attorney. Yes, you need a lawyer.
