Q: Pet store LIED about dog breed? Charged me 2,100!!!
Hi, i purchased a puppy last year in Missouri at a pet store. They charged me $2,100 and told me my dog was a maltipoo. I do still have the papers. At the time, I believed them because she was a puppy and was very fluffy and small. However, i have TWO real maltipoos in the family and now that a year has passed, it is VERY clear that the dog I bought is NOT a maltipoo. We have been STRESSED because maltipoos are easy to train and this dog is STILL not potty trained and has severe behavioral issues that we have had to deal with. Also you can tell by fur, size, eating habits, behavior, that this is a different breed. I love her and will continue to provide a loving home for her but had they been honest with us, we wouldn’t have purchased anything that wasn’t a maltipoo since we were specifically looking for that breed. And then they charged us 2100 for her. What can we do?
A: This is a problem for Missouri Small Claims court. Your damages would be what you actually paid, minus the value of what you actually got.
A: You will probably need some proof of genetic testing to win your case. I doubt that the Small Claims judge will take your word as evidence of the type of breed that you purchased.
