Belton, MO asked in Divorce and Family Law for Missouri

Q: Lawyer ignored requests for extension to respond to discovery. 30 days is up now so what do I need to do now?

BEFORE my 30 day deadline was up I emailed the attorney asking for an extension to get what they are requesting. I ended up emailing her 3 times and my husband even emailed her asking on my behalf. He also left 3 messages the prior week for her. She had ignored it ALL and sent me a demand letter stating I had 7 days to provide or else…Today I just another letter from her claiming she was unable to open my email but I sent 3 to her. I was told to file an ex parte for enlargement (extension) and attach a copy of the email I had sent to the attorney. However its now past that 30 day deadline and it says I must ask the court within that timeframe. So now what do I need to do?

EDIT:. Yesterday I did file a letter with my request and explanation including the documents showing my steps. And today the judge just granted my 60 day extension request. Thank God.

A: Your options are to do nothing (not a good option) or file a motion seeking an extension of time, even though the deadline has passed.
