Q: What are the REALISTIC (if any) viable punishments for being a couple of days late with discovery documents?

A: With the documents - probably none, unless there is a prior order commanding compliance. The responses must be timely filed - otherwise the objections are waived.

A: Depends on what the documents are and if a hearing is scheduled. Sanctions can be severe if related to child support. Sanctions will be severe if there was a prior Order compelling discovery. A competent attorney will be able to assist your compliance with all discovery and mitigate sanctions.

A: No punishment. Punishment would only come form a motion to compel discovery or a violation of an order mandating discovery by a particular day. Any defenses are waived however, but that rarely comes into play in a domestic case.
