Tucker, GA asked in Family Law for Georgia

Q: If the legal guardian of a child was dropped off and left without any assistance would that fall under neglect?

If the legal guardian of a child was dropped off and left without any assistance would that fall under neglect and could the guardian get in trouble? If so, what are the options I have if I can’t take care of the child and they aren’t in my legal custody? I really don’t want to call CPS, but I do want to inform someone that I am not the child’s legal guardian and can not properly take care of them.

A: Call DFCS. This is your only option if you can't care for the child and the legal guardian refuses to do so.

A: I agree with my colleague, it sounds as though you will need to contact DFCS if there is no proper guardian for this child who can/will provide care. -Homer P. Jordan IV, Esq. 404-620-1558 HomerJordan.com
