Nashville, TN asked in Car Accidents for Tennessee

Q: Am I gonna get stuck paying 2 tickets for accident? Am I gonna get points against me? How do I fight this?

Coming around curves my car made a loud bang and steering locked up. Hit signpost and ended up in ditch. Only caused damage to my car. Busted taillight lens cover and a scratch along the back fender. It was raining hard and was going 15-20 miles under the speed limit. Got 2 tickets-failure to maintain my lane and causing damage to my car. I'm pretty sure I was hydroplaining on top of my steering locking up. I was told id have points against my license now and my insurance will go up plus the tickets. Can I fight this? I've never had an accident before. Never had any tickets before.

A: The points will count on your driver's license

And your insurance company will either have a point system or factor in these tickets on your driving record for premium purposes.

If you just pay the tickets then the points will add up. You can appear to defend the ticket. You may want to have an attorney represent you. The attorney may be able to obtain either a dismissal or a diversion where these are dismissed if you don't have a ticket for a period of time.
