Baton Rouge, LA asked in Personal Injury and Civil Rights for Louisiana

Q: I usually visit my son at parish prison, but today I was turned away after having been allowed the last year.

I had a felony arrest that was thrown out and the charge became a misdeamener. My first time in the criminal system, and I brought my paperwork to same desk . It was entered into computer and I was allowed to visit my son over the last year.He was shipped due to overcrowding and shipped back to parish for court. So I went as always to check in and was humiliated in a lobby full of people and other staff as she rudely read my charges out loud and said I had been arrested twice 2015 and 2017. I tried to explain that 2015 was only arrest, was cleared and I had been here many times (politely because she was loud and rude, even other staff members vouched my

visiting) she continued to go on saying im not getting in stating each charge loudly again as more people were coming in. At the advice of her co workers she called her supervisor as she told me that I'm not getting in because I was arrested and that's that.My son has same last name his arrest was 2017 I explained again then I just left.

A: Have you tried to resolve this by contacting the Warden's office or the assigned supervisor for visitation? The person at the desk was essentially preparing clerical duties.
