He's currently in there based on a statement given . In the statement the person said he had a gun so he's been charged with possession of a firearm but when they searched him they didn't find a fire arm but he's still being charged with possession.

A: Does he not have a bond? What about a lawyer? 8 months is a long time, but it does happen.

A: Once a person is arrested he is given a first appearance and usually a bond is set. If no bond is set than the person must be indicted within 90 days or then he is automatically entitled to a bond. Once he is indicted he can file a demand for a speedy trial and the State has to try him within 2 terms of court, generally about 4-6 months but it depends on the charge and the jurisdiction. I would encourage the person accused of a crime to hire a lawyer.
