Springfield, NJ asked in Criminal Law and Domestic Violence for New Jersey

Q: Can I ask for testimonial accommodations? Should I inform the prosecutor that the office missed some of my statement?

My children's father was charged with simple assault. I received a letter for court on June 27. During this incident, my children's father pushed and slapped me in front of our son, Our son is 2 years old. The police officer that did my report only wrote that he slapped me. When I tried to contact her she went away for the week on vacation, she also put the wrong phone number on the report. Should I let the prosecutor know that she missed some of my statement? I am 5 1/2 months pregnant and this case is stressing me out I am worried about what's going to happen, It is not healthy for me or my baby for the amount of stress I have been under. I am nervous and I am uncomfortable talking in front of the defendant in court. I am very emotional at this time and I think if I spoke I will just freeze up. I wrote a victim impact statement as well. I was doing some research online and wondering if I can ask for Testimonial Accommodations and be able to testify from another room or video?

A: Yes. You should let the prosecutor know ahead of time all your feelings, problems and concerns and they'll tell you if they can help you with any of them.
