Q: Divorced in Marin county in 1987. Need to adjust alimony. Live out of state now. Do I need a CA lawyer?

Am retired & earning less income. Can a CA lawyer execute alimony adjustment without my returning.

A: As a Pennsylvania attorney, I don't know whether you'll have to return to CA for any alimony modification proceedings. But I do know that California law controls the answer to your questions, and you'll need to consult with a California attorney to get your answers. Best of luck to you.

A: I don't know if it can be done but a CA attorney would be the one to consult. I always suggest that someone go back to the attorney who handled the divorce but I imagine any experienced family law attorney in Marin County can be of assistance.
