Denver, CO asked in Car Accidents for Colorado

Q: Getting into a car accident with no insurance.

I was at fault there was more damage to my car than the other persons. I had no insurance at the time of the accident. This is my first accident, and this will be the first no insurance ticket I will receive. What most likely will happen during court? How long does a driving with no insurance ticket last on your record? will I get jail time? how much would a fine typically be? will this stop me from getting a job that includes driving?

A: Worth your getting at least a consult from an attorney who handles tickets in the county where this happened.

Generally, no jail time.

But, get a license suspension as long as you don't pay. Other person can sue you. Not just for their car but for their injuries.

Your state may have penalties but generally, a lot depends on what happens. If you can pay for the damage to the other person's car, fine, but if you can't things get sticky.
