A: Depends on the weapon but if it's a gun then that's Graves Act case which means mandatory jail so unless he can get the search suppressed the best he can hope for is a three years with one year parole eligible. However, he can file for waiver to avoid jail. Also, he can take the case to trial but if he loses he's likelier to get five years with 42 months parole eligible.
