Mckinney, TX asked in Adoption for Louisiana

Q: I live New Orleans can you legally serve someone papers at McDonald's

I was served at McDonald's for adoption of my sixteen year old daughter now they are wanting my address saying their attorney needs to send more paperwork to me by mail. The person who is trying to adopt my daughter wants my address for their attorney. They live in Mississippi and I live in New Orleans I was told in Louisiana you have to be served at your address and the person serving papers has to follow the laws in the state they are serving them in. I was served by my daughter's 18 year old boyfriend

A: You can be served anywhere, as long as it is properly done - ie. by the Sheriff's Department or via a properly appointed private process server.
