Plainfield, IL asked in Traffic Tickets for Illinois

Q: How do you get court supervision?

I am not required to appear in court for my ticket. The information booklet says i cannot request supervision by mail because I am under 21. So I would think that I would need to appear in court. However, there is no court date for me because court was not required. I just want to pay the ticket and attend traffic school & put it behind me. I’ve looked all over and have called the court and no one is helping me. They say go to your court date but I do not have one. It’s my first ticket and I don’t know what to do. Any info is helpful

A: There should be a court date, time and location listed on the ticket. If there is no court date, you will be mailed a court date after time has passed for you to pay the ticket. You have to appear in court in order to get court supervision.

A: You do not have to appear if you are going to pay the ticket and accept a conviction.

The clerk will mail you a court date if you don't send in your guilty plea. it's that court date where you request supervision. You must have a parent or guardian with you in court if you are under 18.
