Westlake, LA asked in Child Support for Louisiana

Q: Will the triplet childen I have now not help with the child support that my ex is trying to amend for money?

My ex wife is amending the support I pay now bc of a new job I have. Will the state agree to take more from 3 children to pay for 1? I was currently paying &400/month, but feels like I will have to pay $1,000/month. Just doesn’t feel right for this to happen. I have never been late for support pay and have covered all medical myself for the child.

A: The court will not consider subsequent children in setting the amount of child support for the previous children. The state policy behind it is that you knew you had this 1st ob ligation when you took on additional obligation(s). The only break you get is if you take a 2d job to support the subsequent childrwn, that income won't be considered.
