Q: Would it be reasonable for me to find a lawyer and file a lawsuit regarding a car crash in Tennessee?
On Sunday, August 26th, I was involved in a serious car crash. This crash involved a driver in a company owned vehicle, he crossed the median into my lane in which he hit the first driver head on in our lane, then hit me head on. We all went to the Emergency Room. In the official police report, it showed that they did not test this driver for drugs or alcohol, and he was driving on a revoked license. (He wasn't charged with anything) However, the company van had insurance. (So I am not too sure why they allowed him to drive that company owned vehicle with a revoked license.) Would it be worth getting a lawyer and filing a lawsuit?
A: I would suggest you at least seek the advice of a lawyer. There are now a lot of issues to deal with in resolving a claim. I have been practicing a long time and things have gotten more complicated in regard to liens, subrogation interests and other matters. If nothing else talking to a lawyer to discuss some of the issues would be helpful to you. You don't have to hire a lawyer necessarily but to get some advice most lawyers will consult for free. You then can make a decision as to how you want to proceed.
