Q: Is it legal to be searched on a traffic violation?
Was stopped for a traffic violation,the officer took my purse out of my car searched it and my car.
The officer said he found a meth pipe. Went to jail.Chargedwith Drug Para.Did not get a ticket on traffic violation. Is this legal?
A: If the officer had a legitimate reason to stop you, then yes. Issuing a Citation bolsters the State's assertion of a legal stop, but it is not required for the officer to charge you with every crime he witnesses. You need a competent attorney to try to get this dismissed. That will be a drug related conviction which will harm you forever if it goes on your record.
