Grand Prairie, TX asked in Child Support for Louisiana

Q: When you are ordered to pay child support through the state but are hurt and cannot work, due to that injury.

If you supply case worker with documentation from dr that you are unable to work, does the child support "freeze"? There is no income such as short term disability or workers comp.

A: No, you have the obligation of filing with the court to ask that the child support obligation be modified. Otherwise, it continues as previously ordered.
