York, PA asked in Child Support for Pennsylvania

Q: My almost 17 yr old son has been in my primary care since 2009 and my ex has paid child support. My son has recently

Wanted to be at his dads more of the time & felt that was normal. I have zero income and am the full time caregiver for my autistic child who is non verbal & is asthmatic. I rely on my current husband. My toddler has pre school and therapy which I am his transport. My ex recently filed who makes much more money than my household for support. This has only been since July that my son has been with him a bit more. He’s cyber schooled and works and again almost 17. Just looking for insight prior to my hearing in York, PA.

I know for certain this is all retaliatory as my ex was tired of paying support and I told him to stop he didn’t need to anymore and that’s not enough. Thank you for any insight on this. I’m simply in shock as I never have a problem providing what my teenager needs and always have. My current husband handles all of that. I don’t even have assets in my name!

Again,I agreed to stop receiving child support from my ex. My special needs child is from my current marriage

A: The custodial parent has the right to request child support. I honestly think you'd do well to consult in person with an experienced family law attorney in your area before the hearing to explain your situation in detail and maybe even get an idea of what a support order against you might be. I think it would be far more helpful to you to discuss this in person, even if you decide not to bring an attorney to court to represent you.
