Dorchester, MA asked in Estate Planning for New York

Q: how long should estate atty take to meet w us after mother's death?

it's been 2 months since my mother died and estate atty has not met w us yet. We have an appt scheduled in 1 week but I am upset he took so long.

Also what documents am I entitled to and how quickly should he provide them to me?

He has offered nothing but I asked for the trust docs, the will and an accounting of the assets of the estate. This was a living trust.

He eventually gave me the trust papers but ignored my request for the will and an accounting of the estate assets.

Let me try again.

1. AM I ENTITLED TO THE WILL AND AN ACCOUNTING OF THE ASSETS FROM THE ESTATE ATTY?

2. HOW SOON SHOULD THEY BE PROVIDED?

BTWAY - MY brother is the executor of the estate and has not provided anything.

3. Am I suppose to get the documents from the estate atty or from the executor?

I would appreciate it if you stuck to these questions. I am looking for direct answers to these questions please.

A: An attorney should meet when you want. This is a service business. As to documents, it depends on what you paid him/her to do.
