Q: My childs father lives in Philadelphia, I Live in NYC....He got a custody order while I was in a DV Shelter hiding
The custody order didn't go into effect until i moved out of the dv shelter into my own place..he served 3 years probation for domestic violence against me(ALL PUBLIC RECORD) After i moved out the courts allowed him custody every weekend all all summer long. Meanwhile, I'm a struggling single mom living in nyc and im a full time college student with practically little to No income. He works 2 jobs in philadelphia. However he received a $0 child support order because he receives medical coverage thru the state and im also receiving benefits in nyc, and 1 state won't pay another even tho he does have an income. So i'm STUCK taking my child every week to pa on my own dime because he has a custody order and also has a $0 child support order. This should have never happened!!! I NEED HELP PLEASE!

Perhaps contact Community Legal Services in Philadelphia (215-981-3700, https://clsphila.org) for assistance - although you might have to be a Philadelphia residence to qualify for free legal assistance. Otherwise, contact your local legal aid organization and/or domestic relations section. You should be able to file for child support where you live by now.
Best of luck to you.
