Stone Mountain, GA asked in Child Custody, Child Support and Family Law for Georgia

Q: Do I still have to continue paying court ordered child support to my ex if her mother was granted temporary custody?

My child was taken from her mother by DFACS. I hired an attorney and lost basically due to the fact that I’m a single father and my job requires me to travel often. The court ruled that my daughter was to live with her grandmother ( my ex’s mother). I’m still paying child support to my ex wife who doesn’t even have custody of my child. Furthermore, she withdrew my child out of school and sent her to a GA Youth Challenge Camp.

A: You need to file a modification action to address the child support issue if the mother no longer has custody of the child.
