Schiller Park, IL asked in Traffic Tickets for Illinois

Q: Can they stack expired sticker tickets before the 1st one is even paid?

I live in Illinois and due to my car needing major repairs I am unable to pass an emissions test which means I cannot get a new sticker. I was pulled over yesterday January 4th and the officer was nice about it but explained because I've gotten warnings he had to write me a ticket but all the other cops that get behind me would have to do is run my plate and see that I have an active ticket and not be able to issue me another one until this one is paid or I go to court. Today I stopped by my parents house walked back out to my car and there was another ticket for expired plates less than 24 hours After the 1st one I received. Can i fight this 2nd ticket or did the officer yesterday lie to me and they can stack them?

A: Yes - law enforcement can stack the tickets until you are valid to drive.
