Philadelphia, PA asked in Child Support for Pennsylvania

Q: Baby’s father gave wrong income during child support hearing, can i do something about it?

This is happening in Philadelphia,Pa. i just had our hearing. Im part time (sometimes 5-10 hours a week). I know for a fact the father makes over $13/hr (he actually said he makes 15/hr) and he works Mon-Fri (occasionaly the weekend as well). He is a subcontractor (so no pay stubs, direct deposit). He works (to my knowledge )for only ONE place. He brought in a form stating he only makes about 6,000 a year (last year... didnt work the whole year tho). But i know its a lie, he has bought 3 cars, pays his rent, and he eats out all the time. I asked for $350 a month. He was only willing to give $200. The numbers came to $150. My son is still using diapers and wipes $100 is just enough for that. Is there anything i can do? If i get a lawyer, would they be able to help me raise the costs? My child isnt in daycare or anything. Im part time because i was in school. But $150 a month isnt enough. Im not on any assistance except medical. Do i have a case? Is there any way to prove his REAL income

A: I suggest that you consult with a family law attorney to explain what you know. Hopefully it will be enough for the attorney to give you some advice and maybe even represent you in court. It sounds like it might be a stretch financially for you to pay for a private attorney. I don't know if you're in Philadelphia or one of the surrounding counties, but some of the counties have free attorneys associated with their Domestic Relations Offices. Also you can google free and low cost legal services in your county. You can also try the local law schools. They often have free legal clinics.
