Q: Is it required for an officer to ask for valid insurance in a traffic accident in MO
I got into an accident and wasn’t at fault and I flagged down an officer and he asked for license but nothing else and now when I went to go file a claim, the person doesn’t have active insurance.
A: It's too bad that the officer didn't do a thorough job, but I'm not sure what you want to do about it. If the officer had cited the other driver for lack of financial responsibility, the other driver still wouldn't have insurance. You could sue the other driver if you believe a judgment would be collectible.
