Burbank, IL asked in Traffic Tickets for Illinois

Q: I just received a ticket for running a stop sign. I'm just a new driver and have never gotten a citation.

I'm always careful when driving and I don't believe I committed the violation. What are my options for dealing with the $100 ticket plus a convenience fee of 2.50? I'd like to get it dismissed and want to keep my driving record clean.

A: Go to court and request Court Supervision or mail the ticket in and request Court Supervision.

A: The fine and convenience fee seem to indicate that this may be some type of local ordinance violation that is not going to be reported to the Secretary of State (and may not appear on your driving record). Read the ticket carefully, if it gives you the option of court supervision/traffic school, that may be your best bet. If there is a phone number on the ticket, call and ask if this will be reported on your driving record if you pay it.
