Champaign, IL asked in Traffic Tickets for Illinois

Q: 17 year old got traffic ticket for using cell phone. Since not a moving violation will it be on record if pay the fine?

Trying to decide if court supervision and a traffic safety class is necessary

A: The offense will still be reported to the Secretary of State even though a first offense is not a moving violation under current law (changing soon). Could effect insurance, etc. I would suggest requesting court supervision.

A: Court Supervision is always better. Insurance companies cannot see Court Supervision dispositions but they absolutely can see convictions regardless if it is a moving violation or not.
