Decatur, IL asked in Traffic Tickets for Illinois

Q: I got a speeding ticket but didnt have up to date insurance. If i prove insurance, do i still have to go to court?

The officer said i wouldnt have to, but both tickets are marked with court appearance required.

A: Unfortunately, you or an attorney will likely need to appear in show the proof of insurance and resolve both tickets. That would be required in the vast majority of courthouses. You can contact the Clerk’s Office at the courthouse where your case is assigned to confirm.

A: You absolutely have to appear in court and hopefully you can show that you were insured on the date and time you were ticketed.
