Q: In a borrowed vehicle and a pothole caused a flat. Am I obligated to replace with new of same brand? Or at all?

A: If it was borrowed institutionally, you could look into whether insurance would cover the matter. If it was borrowed from a friend, it's probably best to throw out legal analysis here and analyze this from a perspective of being pragmatic and preserving a friendship. Legally, one can raise many issues (what were the condition of tires, would it have happened anyway, etc.). But in the simple picture, someone was generous and trusting enough to lend you their a car; that's something to weigh heavily in making a decision. Good luck
