Sun City Center, FL asked in Divorce, Child Custody and Child Support for Georgia

Q: divorce/child support/custody

my son is in jail currently in douglas cty georgia, his wife served him with divorce papers in jail, asking for child support, him to cover all insurance (medical, dental, life) and him to pay anything not covered by insurance, but also saying she wants him to agree to zero contact with the child . Obviously he is not going to agree to that, but has no money for a lawyer, what does he need to do? He has 30 days to respond

A: He needs to respond to the case.

A: He will need to respond. Many attorneys accept credit card payments, which helps to make it more affordable. You can also try calling the state bar to see if there are any pro bono attorneys who could take his case. -Homer P. Jordan IV, Esq. 404-620-1558 HomerJordan.com

A: Even if he is not represented by an attorney, he still needs to file an answer to the complaint for divorce. Otherwise, the court may make a ruling without notice to him or his involvement.

His answer to the complaint will need to be filed with the court and a copy mailed to his wife.
