Lafayette, LA asked in Divorce, Family Law and Child Support for Louisiana

Q: Is it possible to convert a transcript into a judgment?

I filed for divorce 10 years ago and received a temporary order recommendation which my now ex husband protested. We went to court and the judge ordered him to pay a lesser amount in court. The judgment, however, was never signed. My ex husband stonewalled me at every turn and I finally was granted a divorce in 2013. Again, no child support judgment. He has paid every month; however, his decisions on what to pay are erratic. Every time I have tried to negotiate with him to pay something, he refuses to sign it. We still have one minor child together who also has a disability and my not having a child support order in place is a liability. I went to CSES and they told me that they could not proceed with getting a child support order until I found the order that apparently does not exist. My lawyer is no longer practicing and my ex is uncooperative. Is there a way to convert the court transcript from back then into a judgment?

A: Hire a private child support lawyer and give them the transcript.
