Saint Joseph, MO asked in Car Accidents for Missouri

Q: What to see if I can be held responsible for an accident I wasn’t hit in.

My friend and I were driving down the road and a car turns in front of us when we had a green light I evaded her and got through the intersection but my friend hit her. I was not hit but the driver of the car turning is claiming that she couldn’t clear the intersection because I was blocking her and witness are trying to say my friend and I were racing because we have extremely loud sports cars but we were at most 5 over the speed limit, I was not ticketed but is there away in court they could say I caused the accident?

A: It depends on the credibility of witnesses here. Usually it's the testimony of one motorist against the other, but you mention what appears to be another/other witness(s). If they are convincing, a jury could persuaded by their testimony. You don't know until your attorney reviews the strength of their testimony. Good luck
