Chicago, IL asked in Family Law and Child Support for Louisiana

Q: Could I send him a pic of the letter on social media?

My daughter's dad filed for a child support modification over the summer this year. He did not show up to the hearing so there were no changes made to the child support order. Since then, I have had to add my daughter to my health insurance and enroll her in before/after school care. I filed for a modification. Last time, all they did was send out a letter requesting income info but neither of us were actually served by a sheriff so there were no consequences for him not showing. I told my caseworker that he did not show up last time so I'm not sure if they will have him served or not this time. My question: whenever I get the letter stating when our court date is, could I send it to him on social media where it'll say whether or not he's read it and show it to the caseworker and/or judge as proof that he did indeed see the letter? I know it's not the same as being served but since it is just a letter, could I do this?

A: Nope social media not enough. Try certified mail, fax to his work, AND email him. Then print all and bring to court.
